MENDING & ALTERATIONS
Mending is a way to keep your clothes alive and well-loved. I repair most types of clothing, including heavyweight workwear, knits, and leather. I also offer alterations. Please note: I don’t work with formalwear, bridal, or suits.
Once I receive your item, I’ll follow up with an estimate before starting work.
Not satisfied? I’ll rework your piece free of charge.

MEET SARA BETH
Growing up, I loved getting dressed. In my sophomore year of high school, I didn’t repeat a single outfit—not once. That’s when I began playing with clothes: cutting, resizing, adding lace to thrifted pieces. There were no rules, just creativity.
After college, I found myself working on vegetable farms, but I missed the creative spark that clothing and sewing brought me. So I dedicated my first winter off to making. I mended clothes for friends, sewed curtains, stitched by hand, and sharpened my knitting skills. I even started making my own garments using old clothes as patterns.
In the winter of 2022, my husband and I settled into our old farmhouse. I finally had a whole room just for making—and I realized: this could be my work.
Jam Brook Textiles accepts unwanted textiles dropped off at our farmstand on Thursdays between 8am – 7pm.
Ask about our Mobile Mending events! Sara Beth sets up her mobile sewing machine with an armload of supplies and offers mending on the spot.

Questions

If you garment has 3 or more worn areas it is likely the repairs can cost up to $100. The work I offer is custom and can be more complex than the assembly the garment was originally made by.
-
It depends. Is the garment worn all over or in one targeted area? Do you want to keep the item for a specific reason? You get to decide how your money can be spent. Don’t feel foolish in investing in your items.
